Philosophy for a Happy Life
I am fairly certain we all at some point or another, maybe even many times, have had thought what it was that made / make us happy.
This afternoon, I stumbled on a TED Talk by Sam Berns entitled “My philosophy for a happy life“.
At the age of 2 Sam, as you will have learned if you watch the talk I have embedded above, was diagnosed with Progeria, a rare, rapid aging disease.
- Be OK with what you ultimately can’t do, because there is so much you CAN do.
- Surround yourself with people you want to be around.
- Keep moving forward
- Never miss a party if you can help it

The Perfect Present
“If you love someone, set them free.”
I was running some errands over the weekend as usual and was listening to the radio. This American Life was on and I heard Radcliffe reading.
Short Stories has always been one of my favorite types of fictional writing and this was really good. So good that I headed to a Half Price Books store to look for the book. Too bad they didn’t have a copy and the other stores didn’t have one either. They guy offered to order me a copy but I guess I was more interested in getting my hand on a copy and browse thru it more than I was interested in getting it.

Precrastinate
That may not be a word, but I swear I heard it on the radio, on NPR over the weekend. It was during the TED Radio Hour show (I’m pretty positive) on “Slowing Down”.

Throwing a Baseball at Near LightSpeed
I don’t really recall which program it was on but I was listening to NPR / KUT and heard this little piece of “What If”.
The explanation included how the air in front of the ball would not be able to move around the ball as it usually does, since it was moving soooooo fast. So, instead there would be a vacuum created right behind the ball as it was moving and there would be a constant fusion in front of it.
As I was listening the one question that was going thru my mind – wait a second, why / how would the ball itself remain together? Are we assuming the whole ball is acting like a single “thing”?
Needless to say, I eventually google’d and did find some related / relevant articles but not exactly the program 😦

2018
Woke up around 6ish. Tossed and turned around and eventually got up closer to 7. Instead of spilling food on my shirt, I spilled a bit of toothpaste. Can’t claim that I’ve never done this before, but it is not as common as me spilling food on me, FWIW.
Went out for a drive at 22oF and drove around for about 53mi over an hour and 27 minutes. I did have to wait in the driveway allowing for me car to heat up a bit.

P.S. Still cannot figure out why my most recent Music / CD import is not showing up on my phone. It is showing up everywhere else.
