Iguana Grill

I’ve only been here a couple of times and don’t really recall the food experience. But the few times I was there, I wondered why I didn’t go there more often. Specially when the other option was so crowded + over hyped.

Anyway, I have known for a while now that the place had most likely closed. But had only the other day found out that the closure happened back in October 2016. At least that’s when the austin360 article was posted.

G/M Steakhouse

I’m so very sorry to not have had visited G/M Steakhouse more times while it was still around. But the few times I was able (cough cough “able to afford”) to make it there, it definitely left an impression. It was pretty much the same one everyone else remembers – the guy behind the counter was not a politically correct person by any means.

The funny thing is that I don’t actually recall him ever being rude to me or anyone that I was with. It could be that I didn’t frequent it frequently enough – was not one of the regulars. But I do remember that the side of fries was always a pretty sizable serving.

Before I go any further, I must mention that I did do a Google search on GM Steakhouse as I was starting to write this post and the very first Austin American article that mentions him passing away

Gumbo’s (Westlake)

  • Location – West
  • Cuisine – Cajun / Lousian
Crawfish Etouffee Stuffed Rainbow Trout Chilean Bass Louisiana Bread Pudding

We went to Gumbo’s of Westlake for New Years Eve dinner – unfortunately, but not surprisingly, they were all booked for the evening :o( They did however have a few tables in the bar and were serving the full menu there.

We started with a bowl of Crawfish Etouffee. Then for dinner my wife chose the stuffed Rainbow Trout and I had the Chilean Bass. The girls shared some pasta and fried shrimp from the kids menu.

Both dishes were very good and surprisingly, we both liked our own dishes better.

Finally we had some bread pudding w/vanilla ice cream (most awesome).
